my sight from Your Seeing

my hearing for Your Hearing

my hand from Your Power

and there is no loss of the then

for the now is the now

and the will be is yet to come

and it is all You

forever and ever

“wherever you turn there is the Face of God”

in the past, present, and future

in the seen and the unseen

i cannot encompass even the truth of my own self

memories remembered and forgotten

feelings felt and feelings gone

all are with You

for all are from You

i simply grasp at the sand

pouring through my fingers

i see myself

and wish i could be him again

but the me that i am now

is Your choice

alive and not dead

healthy and not sick

Muslim and not kāfir

Allah Allah Allah

what can i offer to You in thankfulness for everything

for everything i remember and everything i have forgotten

the journey of life

i am forever Your servant

forever in need

forever grateful

that out of all possible existences

You chose me
