al-Imām Musā b. Jaʿfar al-Kāẓim عليه السلام told me two things that metaphysically slapped me across the face tonight:

“The Messenger of Allah صلى الله علي و آله وسلم said: A person who wakes up and their greatest concern is other than Allāh, it is not from Allāh.”

[Narrated in Musnad al-Imām Mūsā ibn Jaʿfar, p, 32]

“Do not consider a great deal of good a great deal and do not consider a little sin very little; little sins accumulate and become a great deal. Have fear of God in private so you can do justice to yourselves.”

[Narrated in The Repenter is the Beloved of God, p. 130]

Thank you, my Imam, for reminding me.

May Allah help me to wake up each day where my greatest concern is Allah, and may Allah help me to do a great deal of good in my life but not consider it great, and may Allah forgive my many little sins and help me to never consider them very little, āmīn.
