When I write and put it into public, it is usually the best I’ve got to offer. Not best in terms of style (I don’t even know if I am a “good” writer), but rather best in terms of spiritual clarity. When I write something that comes from a place of doubt, or anguish, or confusion, I usually keep it to myself.
I want to present myself as someone who has it all figured out, but I really don’t. I’m just trying my best (I hope). And to be honest, I’m afraid to let you see all of me. And more than that, I’m afraid to let what is inside me out into the world.
That’s why I called this blog, “A Mercy Case,” because I am in such need of Divine Mercy. We all are. We are drunkards, adulterers, embezzlers, fakes, liars, murderers, oppressors, rapists, atheists, hypocrites, slanderers. We sometimes want what is bad for us, and hate what is good for us. We break people’s hearts, consume more than we need, and reject good counsel. We think of ourselves all the time, narcissists at heart.
May the Merciful One cover over our faults, forgive us our weaknesses, and guide us to that which is best for us in this life and the next, ameen.
