To my brothers and sisters that I do not know,
I pray that the sun rising on your faces this morning brings hope. I am here in peace and comfort in the dead of night in Massachusetts, but you are in my thoughts. I cannot imagine what you have gone through, what you are going through, what you will go through. It breaks my heart. I pray that in this month of mercy, God gives you relief. I pray that in this month of change, God brings you happiness. I pray that in this month of community, you feel our prayers from across the sea. I feel so helpless, but no one can prevent me from turning to the Lord of the East and the West, before whom all are helpless. They may control my movements, but they cannot control my heart. Ya al-Fattah (O, The Opener)! Ya al-Muhaymin (O, the Protector)! Ya al-Mu’izz (O, the Giver of Honor)! You are the One who is in control. Grant us the ability to work righteousness in this world, and to do what we are able to be of service to those in need. Please ease the sufferings of the Palestinian people, wherever they may be on your Earth, and please forgive us for all of our wrongdoings. La ilaha illa anta, subhanka, inni kuntu min al-dhalimin (There is no God but You, Glory be to You, truly I am one of the wrongdoers). ameen.
