A Mercy Case

I want food, sleep, and sex

when given, I should be thankful

but when prevented, I should be patient

I need ramadan

a time when food/sleep/sex is less of a focus

a time when the community is more important than the self

a time when worship is more important than the self

for when the self is weaned from its appetites

the heart can grow

revealing its luminous presence

but sometimes

a lot of the time

I just want what I want

when I want

how I want

where I want

with whom I want

always I

the false idol within

that Muhammad came to smash

upon him blessings and peace
